Mulching vs. a dozer
The cheap bid is rarely the cheap job.
A dozer pushes everything — brush, stumps and the topsoil you actually wanted — into a pile someone has to burn or haul. What is left behind is a rutted, stripped surface that erodes, holds water and grows back in briars twice as thick.
- No stump holes. Stems are ground at or below grade, so you are not steering a truck around craters next season.
- Erosion control built in. The mulch layer armors bare soil through the first heavy rain instead of letting it wash into the creek.
- Slower regrowth. A thick mulch mat shades out the seed bank. Cleared dirt is an invitation for privet and briars.
- Selective by design. We work around the mature timber, the hardwoods and the deer trails you want kept — a blade cannot do that.
- Wet-ground capable. Low ground pressure tracks keep working in bottomland where a wheeled machine would be buried to the axle.

A mulching head grinds standing brush, saplings and small trees into chips that stay on the ground. Cutting, grinding and cleanup all happen in one pass, by one machine — so there is no pushing, no piling, no burning and no hauling.
How much does it cost per acre?
It depends on what is actually standing there. Light underbrush under mature pines moves quickly. A solid wall of privet and sweetgum takes real time. Terrain, slope and how much of the acre truly needs cutting all move the number.
That is why the estimate is free and done on site — a per-acre number quoted over the phone from a satellite photo is a guess, and guesses turn into change orders.
Do you haul off the debris?
No — and that is the advantage. Material is ground in place and left as a mulch blanket that holds your soil, slows regrowth and breaks down into the ground. No burn permits, no smoke, no dump fees.
How big of a tree can the mulcher take?
Brush and stems up to roughly 8 inches in diameter go down comfortably. Bigger than that we look at case by case — send a photo and you will get a straight answer, not a sales pitch.
Will the machine tear up my property?
A tracked machine spreads its weight over a large footprint rather than concentrating it on four tires. Topsoil, root structure and drainage stay intact. That is the main reason mulching beats a dozer on land you intend to keep using.
How soon can you get to my property?
Scheduling moves with the weather and the season — late summer and pre-season fall book up fastest because everyone wants lanes and plots ready at the same time. Call early and we will get you a real window, not a maybe.
